Carmabi Publishes 2024 Annual Report Highlighting Scientific Impact and Environmental Progress

Willemstad, Curaçao – The Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (Carmabi) Foundation proudly announces the release of its 2024 Annual Report, now available on its website. The report showcases the foundation’s continued commitment to science, education, and conservation across Curaçao’s unique terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

Over the past year, Carmabi broke records in the number of peer-reviewed scientific publications, welcomed over 213,000 visitors to its national parks, and expanded collaborations with international partners such as the Proteus Ocean Group and the Kingdom Climate Agenda working group.

The report offers detailed insights into Carmabi’s research activities, conservation efforts, park management milestones, and educational outreach, including over 11,000 schoolchildren who participated in nature education programs in 2024.

“Our ecosystems face unprecedented pressure, from climate change to coastal development,” says Dr. Manfred van Veghel, Director of Carmabi. “Yet thanks to our dedicated team and partners, 2024 became a year of resilience, innovation, and renewed impact.”
