WILLEMSTAD – On Wednesday, 12 August, Carmabi invites residents and visitors to become an Ocean Guardian for a Day. This exclusive one-day experience combines nature conservation, science and adventure, giving participants the opportunity to actively contribute to the restoration of Curaçao's mangrove ecosystems.
During Ocean Guardian Day, participants will work alongside Carmabi's conservation experts to help restore mangrove habitat in Seru Largu National Park before exploring the Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park during a guided kayak tour. Along the way, they will discover why mangroves are among the island's most valuable ecosystems, providing a home for countless species, protecting coastlines and supporting healthy marine environments.
Hands-on conservation experience
The experience is designed for people who want to connect with nature in a meaningful way. Rather than simply observing the landscape, participants will take part in its restoration while learning about the science behind conservation and the important work being carried out by Carmabi.
A locally sourced lunch is included, offering participants the opportunity to relax, connect with fellow nature enthusiasts and exchange ideas about Curaçao's unique natural heritage.
Learning by doing
Ocean Guardian Day is built on the idea that people are more likely to protect nature when they experience it firsthand. By bringing together conservation, education and outdoor recreation, Carmabi hopes to inspire more people to become ambassadors for the island's natural environment.
