WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park will open its doors to the public for a free Open Day on Thursday, July 2, 2026. From 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, visitors of all ages are invited to discover one of Curaçao’s most unique natural areas and enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities.
Throughout the day, guests can explore the park free of charge and participate in educational and recreational activities designed to connect people with nature. Activities include children's games, a bouncy castle, face painting, a plant sale, and food and beverage stands.
A day of nature and community
The Open Day aims to make the park accessible to everyone while raising awareness about the importance of mangroves and nature conservation on Curaçao.
"We believe it is important that everyone has the opportunity to experience the beauty and value of the mangroves," says Park Manager Duvan Rios. "Many people have heard about the park but have never visited. This event allows families, children, and residents to discover this special ecosystem in a fun and welcoming environment."
The event will also feature information booths where visitors can learn more about the work of Carmabi and the role mangroves play in protecting Curaçao's coastal environment.
An ecosystem worth protecting
The Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park is one of the island's most important natural habitats. Mangroves serve as nurseries for many fish species, provide shelter for birds and other wildlife, help prevent coastal erosion, and support the health of nearby coral reefs.
"By giving people the opportunity to experience nature firsthand, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for its protection," says Rios. "The more people understand these ecosystems, the more likely they are to help preserve them for future generations."
Everyone is welcome
The Open Day will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park. Admission is free, and all activities are open to the public.
